This training workshop will provide school leaders with the confidence and skills to engage in meaningful and collaborative dialogue with staff and trade union representatives.

This training workshop is being delivered by employment relations experts, the Advisory, Conciliation and Advisory Service (ACAS), in association with the NASUWT.

This training will enable School Leaders to:

  • understand the benefits of working collaboratively with trade unions to resolve conflict situations at the lowest level;
  • understand the causes and effects of workplace conflict;
  • avoid the escalation of workplace conflict and disputes;
  • develop positive and constructive dialogue, consultation and negotiation;
  • utilise strategies for building positive employee relations and good industrial relations;
  • develop appropriate strategies for dealing with different forms of workplace conflict;
  • develop the communication skills needed to maintain effective working relationships.

The training will provide participants with:
  • the opportunity to develop knowledge and practice with experts in the field;
  • tried and tested strategies based on practical experience in the workplace;
  • detailed knowledge and understanding of employment legislation as well as practical hands-on solutions
  • the opportunity to develop employment relations and HR practice; and
  • a tailored programme designed around the needs of busy school leaders.
This training workshop is FREE to members of the NASUWT and the course includes travel, overnight accommodation and meals and refreshments.
